In 1996 he finished in 3rd overall position in the Cyprus Rally Championship and this was only because of his unlucky retirement in the last event, the Venus Rally, where although he was in first position and would be the Champion of Cyprus for 1996 Rally Championship if finished, after an engine blow he had to retire.
In 1997 he only race in 2 rallies and in 1998 he did all the rallies for the Cyprus Championship and he finished in 1st overall position becoming the Cyprus Rally Champion of this year.
In 1999 –2000 – 2001 he only race in 2-3 rallies every year and in 2002 and 2003 he and his team Cool Motorsport decided to participate in full for the Cyprus Rally Championship and he finished again 1st Overall position becoming once again the Cyprus Rally Champion for the 2002 and 2003.
The year 2005 he participated in full again for the 2005 rally championship and after 3 events he was leading the Championship that he later won as well.
Finally he is one of the most spectacular and skilful drivers and because of his pleasant and friendly character he is very popular in the Rally sport field. ————————————————————————————————

Chris Thomas, a very successful businessman, 43 years old, started his career in Rally sport in 1989 and since then he has participated in all kinds of races. He firstly appeared in autocross and rally sprint events and he has many results to be proud of. In 1995 he moved into rallies and participated apart from the local rallies, 8 times in the International Cyprus Rally and 4 times in the Marlboro Rally of Lebanon. Since 1998 he is the driver of the well known Cypriot Rally Team: COOL MOTORSPORT and together they won the 1998 – 2002 – 2003 – 2004 - 2005 Rally Championships. |

NICOS THOMAS (JR) New blood in the Cyprus Rally World with good prospects is Nicos Thomas (JR), the son of Chris Thomas. Nicos was born on 20 October 1987 and was near his father’s career in Rallying all this time. Following his father’s steps he started rallying at the early months of 2006 as a novice driver and had a great start with a finishing rally and one that he took the first place. He also participated in a rally as a co-driver next to his father taking also the first place.

As a fully licensed driver he will start his career in 2007 participating in the Cyprus Rally Championship of the Cyprus Motorsport Federation racing with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9. —————————————————————————————

The Rally Team is composed of the Managing Director Mr. Manolis Kouloumas and 10 skilled mechanics, very familiar with the car and with more than 10 years of experience in Rally sport. All of them has been trained specially for dismantling and reassembling all parts of the Rally-Car. Two of them are electronic engineers specially trained also on all electronic devices on the car and engine programming.
The service cars of the team are three large vans for transporting all necessary items, like tires, petrol, spare parts, tool etc., fixing any possible damages on the car. The fourth van is a small and quick van which is called "Chase car" and will be driven by the Chief Mechanic and the Team Manager and will be outside of every special stage to check and guide all the other service team for the rally car preparation during the rally. All service vans can be painted according to the sponsors colours and signs for publicity and advertising purposes. |
